• Visitor information Opening times and how we're keeping you safe

While no longer legally required, for the safety and comfort of other visitors and staff we are continuing to strongly encourage the use of many of our Covid precautions.

You no longer need to pre-book for most of our venues, but pre-booking is still required for the Grosvenor Museum. At all venues we may ask you to wait for entry to allow visitors to maintain distancing. If you would like to guarantee the time of your visit, please pre-book by ringing the relevant museum on the number below.

If you need any assistance ahead of visiting, please ring the museum you would like to visit or email us and we'll be happy to help. Please don't email us to pre-book unless you need assistance and are unable to ring us; we're rarely in front of a computer all day, so ringing really is the quickest way to book.

Our Covid precautions

Our priority is to ensure your visit is as safe and enjoyable as possible, for both you and our staff.

Test and Trace
To support Cheshire West and Chester Council’s involvement with the NHS we are continuing with Test and Trace, but on a self-service basis. There are QR codes and contact detail slips available in museum receptions.

Social distancing
To promote and facilitate social distancing, we have reduced the number of visitors at our museums and have one-way systems in place. Our cafés are open with limited capacity.

Personal protection and face coverings
Though it isn’t a legal requirement, we strongly recommend that customers and staff continue to wear face coverings.

Hand sanitiser
We encourage staff and visitors to make use of the hand sanitiser stations, these are available in galleries and at all museum entrances and exits.

Cleaning
We are doing extra cleaning at regular intervals in all our museum areas. To allow this to take place, some facilities will be closed for short periods.

Ventilation
We are keeping spaces well ventilated as much as possible.

Interactives
To ensure the safety of all visitors, we have temporarily removed some of our interactive exhibits.

Screens
Protective screens are in place in all retail and reception spaces.

Payments
We recommend, where possible, making cashless payments.

Feeling unwell
If you or anyone you live with is not feeling well, please postpone your visit and come and see us another time.
